"I wasted my entire month"
what to do if you feel the same
I was lying on the floor again.
It was the end of the month, and I felt like I wasted it.
“I didn’t do anything.”
The familiar weight of shame weighed me down,
Making it harder to get on with my day.
But these 3 realizations changed my entire mindset…

Realization #3: reflections vibe checked me
I skipped my weekly reflections the entire month of May.
When I went back and filled them in, I was shocked:

I had way more wins than losses.
But I discounted all my wins and only focused on my losses.
No wonder I felt so discouraged.
After looking through my completed reflections,
(Instead of avoiding them),
I felt a lot more excited for the next month.

Realization #2: all-or-nothing thinking
My therapist vibe checked me.
“Jen, there’s no way you got nothing done all month.
What’s a more accurate way to describe your reality?”
When she put it that way,
I realized my dramatic thoughts had taken over,
Impacting my mood, energy, and momentum.
I was keeping myself down like an enemy,
Instead of talking to myself like a friend.
When I thought “I tried my best this month, learned from my failures, and will improve for the next month,”
I felt more excited, ready to take action.
Realization #1: lean into my natural curiosity
Imagine you said “I feel like I wasted my month” to 2 people.
Person 1: “You’re lazy and keep procrastinating. You’re such a failure, if you stayed consistent you would’ve been successful by now.”
Person 2: “You tried your best, you shouldn’t be expected to perform at 100% all the time. Next month, let’s plan with intention and see what happens.”
How do you feel after talking to each person?
I talked to myself like person 1…
(Which is why I was on the floor lol.)
But after my reflections, I automatically talked to myself like person 2.
Because when I saw reality a bit clearer,
It changed my thinking.
I became more curious,
Treating my life like a game.
I was excited to stay consistent til the end.
What about you?
What’s a way you can be more gentle - and accurate - with your thinking?
