the secret to consistent habits

how I journaled every day for 10+ years

Here are some of my longest habits:

  • 10+ years daily journaling

  • 8 years poop tracking 😂

  • 3 years time tracking

But I’m willing to bet you have habits that have lasted longer than mine…

Even if you tell yourself you’re not disciplined enough.

Today’s sponsor is MYSELF 🤩

I got Eugene (@ADHDFounder) on my podcast 🤯 AAAAHHHH

I met him at an event in March!! cuz someone (shoutout Cassie) DM’d me on Instagram and invited me 🥺 that same event is where I met Brock Johnson (huge IG growth coach who I’ve followed for years) and I did a podcast ep with him too!!!

Anyway Eugene talks about his ADHD struggles, but also how it helped him grow to 1 million followers on IG in 6.5 months.

He shared a wholesome story about an ADHD client of his who took a before and after pic and you can really see the she got the sparkle in her eyes back 🥺 IT WAS SO CUTE, we were talking about how his Dopamine Mastery program changed ppl’s lives - you can check it out here.

Anywayyyy here’s the 30 min podcast ep on YouTube and Spotify! 🫶 ty for the support as always, I appreciate you 🥰

What’s your longest streak?

Every time someone tells me “I can’t stay consistent, I’m not disciplined enough,”

I know it’s BS.

Because you literally brush your teeth (almost) every day.

Or even easier, you breathe every day.

To really improve your consistency, you have to redefine what it means…

Here’s how I use my definition to keep 10+ year streaks towards my goals.

Journal just 1 sentence

Students in my life tracking course are always shocked when I say this.

They ask me,

“How do you stay consistent with tracking when you get busy? Like when traveling?”

Well…

I’m not typing pages and pages of writing.

Some days, I do point form notes.

Or even 1 sentence.

Something is better than nothing.

If you define a clear minimum viable action

(Like 5 min of language practice or even just putting your gym clothes on),

It feels a LOT easier to be consistent and not procrastinate.

Even better if you pair it with a reward.

(Usually my reward is the satisfaction of the task or pressing cool buttons…)

Your homework

  1. Think of a goal you’ve had for a while that you’ve been procrastinating (physical health, mental health, learning, personal development, relationships, etc.)

  2. Define the clear minimum viable action (spend 5 min a day on something easy, send 1 message to 1 person, etc.)

  3. Reward yourself 🫶 it can be as easy as giving yourself a compliment!
